Happy Summer

Summer is here! It may look a little different than many years past, but I hope that you will still enjoy it to the fullest. If you are able to spend more time with your family, take advantage of this time. Bring your family on a cool exploration and teach them about some of the cool stuff you learned this year about water and watersheds. I wish you the best, and as always, I would love to hear about all of your cool explorations. You can always click the email Mrs. Morissette button at the bottom of this page and send me a quick message. Happy Exploring!

Much Love wonderful scientists,

Mrs. Morissette

Much Ado About Gloving

Each year the NBC Watershed Explorers Program uses over 6,400 gloves. The gloves are important, because they keep explorer hands safe from toxins and bacteria that may be present during water testing experiments. The problem is that used gloves have to be discarded. This was really making Mrs. Morissette CRAZY, so she decided to research glove recycling programs!

Enter Terra Cycle and it's Zero Waste boxes. Many hard to recycle materials can be collected in these special boxes and sent to Terra Cycle for repurposing. Now the Watershed Explorer gloves will be collected, boxed, sent to Terra Cycle, and made into some really neat products such as playground equipment and patio furniture. Please take a minute to check out Terra Cycle using the link below and even sign up for some free recycling programs that Explorers can even participate in!

A huge watershed thank you to my wonderful friends Eamon from Woodridge Elementary and Audrey and Mya from Agnes Little for these wonderful drawings. These mean so much to me and remind me why I love my work. All of the watershed explorers are special and I am so proud of the work that each of you has accomplished in just a short amount of time!

A very heartfelt thank you to all of the students, teachers, chaperons, and NBC staff who made this year's Watershed Explorers Program a monumental success. It was an absolute pleasure working with each and every one of you and seeing the growth in your understanding of how to make this Earth a better place for all. I am beyond proud and hope that you will share your knowledge with others. Keep exploring this summer and for years to come!!!
