Make "Black" Friday Outside Day
First, I would like to thank all of the Watershed Explorers for their inspiration. I am so blessed to work with each and every one of you and I am so proud of the amazing work that you are completing!
The reason for this blog title is to encourage all Watershed Explorer families as well as others to disband from the usual shopping craze associated with "Black" Friday, and instead go enjoy some peaceful time with nature. The weather this Friday is supposed to be absolutely beautiful and what better way to enjoy it than by getting outside in nature. There are so many opportunities to enjoy nature in our great state of Rhode Island and just over the line in Massachusetts. There are zoos, aquariums, nature trails and playgrounds, not to mention our wonderful coastline to explore.
Some families make "Black" Friday an event. If it is a tradition in your family, and one that is enjoyable, maybe shop just in the morning and enjoy the rest of the day outside. There are so many ways to integrate more outdoor time into our lives. This is not only crucial for our health, but also for our appreciation and understanding of nature.
If you do get a chance to spend some or all of Friday outdoors, please write about it either in the comments section on the web site, or on a sheet of paper that you can bring in and share with the class. There may just be a special goody for you during the next Watershed Explorer in class lesson as well!
