Adaptation Creation

Good Morning Watershed Explorers,

I have a fun little activity for you to try today. Many of our macro invertebrate friends have special adaptations which help them survive in the water. Here is a little picture graphic to show you just a few. This comes from a great book called My Nature Journal by Adrienne Olmstead.

All of these adaptations help each of these critters survive and thrive better in their water habitat. Your challenge today is to create your own special water creature. The creature must be adapted to survive in the water habitat of your choice. If it's a pond with slow moving water, your critter might have adaptations to help it get around the pond quickly. If your habitat is a river which flows fast, your critter might have adaptations that keep it from floating down stream.

Create a drawing and a short paragraph to describe your creature. You can be as creative as you like. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

It's also a beautiful day today, so get out and enjoy!

Much love,

Mrs. Morissette
