For the wind mobile challenge groups of students are provided the following materials:

3 plastic straws (horrible for the environment but important for this STEM challenge)

4 lifesavers

1 sheet of paper

tape

2 paper clips

Students are told they can create any design that when placed on the floor and blown on, will travel forward. The above are some of the awesome designs that students came up with. Some moved further than others but almost all moved. This lesson teaches students about the importance of renewable energy.
